Maze Runner Trilogy Book Covers
Handcraft, Assembly, Redesign

The basis of this project was the idea of putting interactive elements within a cover. During the conception phase of the book covers, the movie Saltburn was released, and alongside the movie, they also released a vinyl record which contained a liquid that would move within it. I utilized specific aspects of the story within each book and showcased them on their respective cover.

Each book contains a specific element that played a key role in the story; the first was the maze. I created a near 1:1 model that was showcased in the movie, because of its significance and how labor-intensive it was for the characters in the story to map out, I wanted to reflect that in the construction of my own.

The second book has free-flowing sand to signify the desert that the cast would traverse. In addition to the sand, I added silhouettes of people running to signify the number of characters that survived the previous book.

Lastly, the third book has an inky black liquid to represent the virus that, although it plays a role throughout the whole story, takes precedence in the last book.
